Intensive Outpatient Program
a. Minimum of two groups per week, coupled with Individual Therapy and outside support groups.
b. Average length of treatment dependent of overall required hours.
*The Intensive Outpatient Program is designed to assist clients who are struggling with sobriety. It starts with a minimum of two groups per week, coupled with one or two support meetings (i.e. AA, NA, etc.), and tapers down as they progress in treatment.

Level II Drug Specific Education (ADAD Certified)
a. One two-hour group per week.
b. Standard length is 12 weeks.
*Drug Specific Education is designed for the NON-DUI offenders or DUID offenders. This education program is designed to cover all scopes of substance abuse, including alcohol. One component is the three major drugs of experimentation, Alcohol, Marijuana and Cocaine. With the increase of Methamphetamine use in the past five years, we have incorporated an entire session that just deals with the effects and dangers of Methamphetamine abuse. Topics include The History of Drugs in America, The Big Three, Cannabis the Drug, Cannabis legal issues, Cocaine, Mechanisms of Defense, Family of Origin Issues, HIV/AIDS, Relapse Info, Relapse Triggers, The Cycle of Anger, and Family Dynamics. This program is for people who are experiencing difficulty with multiple substance abuse.

Level II Alcohol Education (ADAD Certified)
a. One two-hour group per week.
b. Standard length is 12 weeks.
*This program provides all the information included in Level I Education. Level II has an additional general objectives, including gaining knowledge of each participant in order to establish a safe supportive climate. This program address the following, History of Alcohol, Legal Issues, Blood Alcohol Levels, HIV/AIDS, Neurochemical Aspects of Use, Sociological aspects of use, Defining psychological Defenses, Psychological Stressors, Community Resources, Relapse Prevention, The Cycle of Anger, and Family Dynamics.

Level II Therapy (ADAD Certified)
a. One two-hour group per week.
b. Standard length ranges from 21 weeks to 43 weeks.
*This class is the standard, state certified therapy group for DUI offenders. This program is an open-forum group used to discuss day-to-day struggles with living sober. Topics include, Assertiveness training, cognitive behavioral exercises, sharing of personal experiences, and responses from other members of the group.

THC Specific Relapse Prevention
a. One two-hour group per week.
b. Standard length ranges from 21 weeks to 42 weeks.
*This class is designed for the NON-DUI offenders or DUID offenders. This group is an open-forum group used to discuss the day-to-day struggles with living clean and sober. Topics include, discussions of legality issues versus moral beliefs, cognitive behavioral exercises, sharing of personal struggles and experiences, and responses from other members of the group.

Relapse Prevention
a. One two-hour group per week, coupled with an outside support group.
b. Standard length depends on severity of relapse risk.
*This group is for clients who are struggling with maintaining sobriety. This is an open forum, therapy group, with the objective of providing support for those who might not have it from outside sources, such as family or friends. It is a strong recommendation for every client in this group to work on obtaining an outside support system, while in treatment, This is achieved by them attending support group such as AA, and getting a sponsor.

Cognitive Therapy – Strategies for Self-Improvement and Change (SSC)
a. One two-hour group per week
b. Standard length ranges from 20 weeks to 50 weeks.
*Kenneth Wanberg, Th.D., Ph.D., and Harvey Milkman, Ph.D. developed this program. An intensive cognitive-behavioral based curriculum formulated for individuals who are dually affected and have a history of substance abuse and criminal conduct.

Domestic Violence (Approved Provider)
a. One one-and-a-half hour group per week.
b. Standard length is 36 weeks.
*This program addresses the definition of Domestic Violence, the cycle of violence, and teaching clients conflict resolution skills, i.e., timeouts, avoiding provocation/objectification, using “I” statements and taking responsibility for behavior. The curriculum also includes topics such as, Power and Control, Issues of Independence and Dependence, Alcohol/Drugs and Domestic Violence, Intimacy and Relationship Issues, and Labeling/Awareness: Feelings.

Domestic Violence – IOP (Approved Provider)
a. Two one-and-a-half hour groups per week or one one-and-a-half hour group per week and an individual session.
b. Standard length is two clinical contacts for 36 weeks.
*This class is for the Domestic Violence client that has already completed a range of treatment and has re-offended with another charge of Domestic Violence. This is an intensive program based on accountability for each group member.

Anger Management
a. One two-hour group per week.
b. Standard length is 24 weeks.
*This class is for individuals who lack positive coping skills and experience poor impulse control. The program has been designed to increase the individual’s awareness of the personal stressors, to teach them appropriate ways of expressing and relieving anger, and to serve as a preventative tool to avoid further legal involvement resulting from anger issues.

Offender Specific Therapy – Basic Life Skills (DOC Provider)
a. One two hour group per week.
b. Length of treatment is determined by Referral Source.
*Male specific, experiential group for repeat offenders/relapsers. Clients in a Preparation/Action phase, use of eclectic approach to change. External support groups are encouraged and group may be very confrontational.

Women's Issues Therapy
a. One two hour group per week.
b. Standard Length ranges from 21 to 43 weeks.
A group designated for the focused treatment of issues related to women. It provides a preliminary foundation building, identification/awareness process for clients in need of dealing with unresolved issues of growing up in a dysfunctional family, being abused or neglected as a child or struggling with problematic relationships. It uses experiential group strategies to assist clients in understanding their current lifestyles. The program also helps them develop a better sense of self, enhance self-esteem, develop an internalized locus of control and build boundaries that allow them better care for themselves and their offspring.

Individual Therapy
a. One Hour Individual session with a Counselor.
b. Done on a as needed basis. (I.e. Weekly, Once a month. Etc.)
*Client directed appointments designed to give the client an opportunity to express issues and concerns that are clinically inappropriate for group disclosure. They also allow the client and counselor develop a custom tailored treatment plan designed to better address their therapeutic needs.

Couples Therapy
a. One hour session with one or two therapists.
b. Determined by couple as well as therapist.
*Couples sessions are used as a place for people in a relationship to learn healthy ways to disagree in a relationship. Couples are taught fair-fighting techniques, timeouts, awareness wheel, and communications skills. Family of origin issues is addressed with each member of the relationships to assist them in working through their “emotional baggage,” as well as gives the partner insight into the other person’s feelings and experiences. (For Domestic Violence classes, the offender must complete 24 weeks of treatment before couples therapy is begun.)

Family Therapy
a. One hour session with one or two therapists.
b. Determined on a case-by-case basis.
*These sessions are geared toward the children and their interaction with their parents. Parents are taught constructive parenting techniques as well as how to set boundaries for the child and adhere to them. Children are taught respect for their parents as well as how to express wants and feelings in an appropriate way. This also gives the child a safe environment to express any concerns.

Dual Diagnosis Assessment and Treatment
*If a client is suspected to have an underlying psychological disorder, testing will be administered. If they are found to be needing further assessment, they will be referred to our staff psychiatrist for further assessment. Their medication levels are monitored here, and treatment plans will be geared accordingly.

Parenting Classes
a. One three-hour class per week.
b. Standard length is 3 weeks.
The map is entitled STEP - Systematic Training for Effective Parenting. Don Dinkmeyer, Ph.D. and Gary D. McKay, Ph.D developed this unique program. This program is not about controlling our children; it’s about learning how to relate to our children and identifying what they’re not saying. STEP helps parents learn effective ways to relate to their children. This program will help parents clarify the purposes of children’s behavior, STEP also will help parents learn how not to reinforce unacceptable behavior in their children but encourage cooperative behavior. Another great value in STEP is that parents will discover that they are not necessarily the cause of difficulties with their children. Topics include, Understanding Children’s Behavior and Misbehavior, Understanding How Children Use Emotions To Involve, Parents and The “Good” Parent, Encouragement. Communication: Listening, Communication: Exploring Alternatives and Expressing, Your Ideas and Feelings to Children, Developing Responsibility, Decision Making for Parents, The Family Meeting, Developing Confidence and Using Your Potential.

Adolescent Classes
a. One hour-and a half class per week.
b. Standard length ranges from 5 weeks to 15 weeks
Right Avenue Counseling is specializing in working with adolescents, involving the Juvenile Courts, Probation, Attorneys, and Families.
Right Avenue Counseling is introducing a program “Cannabis Youth Treatment Series” developed by Ronald Kadden, Ph.D., and Susan Sampl, Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, and “Pathways to Self-Discovery and Change” developed by Harvey B. Milkman, and Kenneth W. Wanberg. This treatment will be effectively implemented with adolescents with mixed demographic characteristics such as race, age, socioeconomic status and gender, as well as from different regions. The therapists will need to be culturally aware of and sensitive to the client group to whom they provide this treatment.
